We ordered a Spider, Rainbow and Birthday roll. The Spider was only ok, but the other two were delicious! The service was excellent, which as any sushi lover knows, is very unusual. The atmosphere was very appropriate for a date if you're looking for a place. I also thought it was pretty cool that they had brewed green iced tea. That's the first time I've been offered green tea, iced.

Great sushi in Boca Raton is very difficult to find. Most restaurants destroy the zen of what should be simple, high quality cuisine, with cheap fish cuts and cream cheese. While Sushi Ray does indulge in some excess, it is my "go-to" place for sushi in the 33433. The environment is suitable for a business lunch during the day or a date after the closing bell. Service here is acceptable although hardly anything to write home about. Two items that need improvement: 1. Staff should be better educated regarding the grade or quality of fish being served. 2. Servers need to learn to walk the fine line between rushing you out the door and being attentive to the table. A standout on the menu is the Cucumber KC Roll. Make sure you specify no cream cheese. If you are a fan of quality tuna, ask for the Blue Fin Tuna. At times it is available, although it will cost you! God is in the details and sushi is a tricky business. Visit Sushi Ray with humble expectations and if you're lucky you will escape the "sushi purgatory" that is Boca Raton.

If only i could give it HELLLLL NO stars. This food was fkn disgusting. I already had a bad feeling about this place before walking in but my bf and I were starving and everywhere else was a long wait so we decided to try it. The owner took the menus, walked like a nazi to our tables and tossed it onto the table and just walked away like something was up his ass and he couldn't get it out. No greeting or enjoy your dinner, nothing. A lot of the items were overpriced compared to regular sushi places. We ordered just 3 items so we can order more later if we like it. 1) Spicy conch salad- room temperature and not a pinch of any type of spice on there and tasted like um... nobody had ordered it for awhile. Mind you, that sh!t was $13. Average price for that, is usually around $7-9 but my bf didn't look at the price -_- 2) Spicy tuna roll- my all time fave ...anywhere else but here. Again, not spicy BUT i think they added a microscopic atom sized one little friggin dot of it probably. AND the tuna tasted funky : / but decided to suck it up and kept thinking, oh maybe because its supposedly mixed with the atom sized dot of spice and scallions (but yo seriously, i've had it at other places and it doesn't taste like..let me see... how do you put it? Like crap. 3) Forgot what other roll we ordered- it was with eel, shrimp tempura, cream, avocado. It was mediocre and i had better. I asked for kimchee sauce for the spicy tuna. So waiter gave me a sauce dish filled with it. I'm thinking, damn! thats a shit load of sauce! they ain't stingy about that at least. Wellllllll, they charged 75¢ for it when NORMALLY they are free! COOOOMEEEE onnnnn. what the fffffff The service was .. Average. There are many many good sushi restaurants out there but we just was so hungry. I will never make the same mistake again !! Then, went to Bogart's and grabbed some burgers afterwards and ended the night with a movie. Dinner after a crappy dinner. aksd;fjlkasdopfai3wur09waueiojflaksdfjlaksdjflaskdf!!!! On the side note: I'm glad that I didn't crap my pants from eating there. FYI :)

I have been coming here for over 12 years and this place consistently stays my #1 sushi restaurant. I always feel safe about the food and quality of the sushi here, they really take pride in the food they serve. The owner Raymond is so nice and always greets us at our table. The Dynamite Roll is DYNAMITE! I have loved everything I have ever tried here. I would and have recommended this place to everyone I know. Trust me as a native to Boca Raton, it absolutely does not get better than Sushi Ray. As a matter of fact I am posting this after trying sushi at another restaurant last night in Boca and I am slapping myself for even spending my money elsewhere.

Celebrated a double birthday with about 8 girlfriends here last weekend. (We only did hibachi, so I can't speak for the sushi.) First off, parking was a challenge. We had to park pretty far away from the restaurant itself. We arrived at 7:45 since we had a reservation at 8:00. We weren't actually sat til well after 8:30. The place were busy, but a well-managed restaurant seats their reservations on time. The menu was the same as all other hibachi places I've experienced - pretty pricey. Most everyone got chicken and one of the birthday girls got scallops. My only option was the vegetables. I did appreciate the fact that our chef cooked my vegetables first next to the fried rice before any meat even touched the grill. And, our chef was a bit more entertaining and had a few more tricks up his sleeve than usual. The dish was ok - a little heavy on the onions for my taste, but there was also broccoli, carrots, zucchini, squash and mushrooms. I was almost starving when we sat down so I had cleaned my plate before anyone else's meat-laden meals were even finished cooking. The layout of the place is a bit ill-conceived as well. Our hibachi was attached to the right of the hibachi to our left - there was only enough room in the middle for one chef at a time. The people next to us were sat at the same time but had to wait a long time until our chef finished all our food before their chef could even begin. Comparatively, this place isn't that great of a deal. Here, your meal includes soup OR salad. And that's it. At other hibachi places I've been, your meal includes a soda, soup AND salad AND sherbet AND a fortune cookie for the same price. And then there was the payment issue. We all had separate checks and mostly paid in cash. He insisted that one of my friends gave him a $10 and a $20 for her $22ish priced meal and only gave her $8 change, but I was with her at the ATM before we arrived, which only distributes $20's. He finally gave her ten more dollars after arguing for quite a while. You'd think separate checks should be easier than trying to match everyone's money to a single bill. BOTTOM LINE: It's an ok place if you have time and money to waste.

Ray's is great. Ray IS great. I like him and his hair. He's had a consistently solid following when it was JUST a sushi place. Years ago he added the hibachi and he's doing fab. Very adventurous menu (at times) super fresh sushi/sashimi and always a solid deal. Highly recommended and - while not my FAVORITE sushi place (see Sushi Yama review elsewhere)...Ray is right up there.

This is probably my favorite sushi place in the Boca/Delray area. While the rolls are a little pricier than most places, it is well worth it. The sushi always tastes fresh and never too fishy. The spicy tuna roll as well as the rainbow rolls are delicious. The staff is very friendly, and the food always comes out very quick. Even though the shopping center is always super crowded, somehow Sushi Ray never is. It is always relatively quiet in there. I have yet to find a place I like better than Sushi Ray, and it is always my go-to place. Also - love the noodle dish and the warm towels they hand out before you order!

It is nice and quiet and the food is so great! This place has been around for a long time, and it is because the food is so good! Anything you try there is going to be great!! Their mochi and plumb wine are musts!

Loved my first visit to Sushi Ray, and not just because whom I meet and broke bread with, although that was a big reason! The service was impeccable. From the gentleman who greeted me upon my arrival, to our energetic, available and attentive without being overbearing waiter. Loved the decor. The rock face of the main bar, back lit in blue, makes a nice impression. The food rocked too. We had some various tuna dishes and one was more impressive than the next. The price was right in line, too. Can't wait to go back. Find me on YouTube, I have some video restaurant reviews there. Cabeza, OUT!!

My wife and I eat at a few enjoyable places that offer sushi in Boca Raton. We've been loyal diners of Rays for almost 18 years. We love his food. In the 18 years we've been going we have had two or 3 less than satisfying meals. I think that's it speaks to a remarkable dining experience over almost two decades. Understand that every great restaurant has a server issue from time to time.Table 4,5,6 and 3's waiter's girl friend dented his cars front fender. Waitress of tables 10, 9,2,1 is a walking zombie. Every great restaurant has a flat night. My wife and I know from all these years of eating there this is a top tier and must eat at restaurants in the area. Its my favorite place for sushi and hibachi here in town. If you love fresh sushi and hibachi you should know that Ray's has become one of he best known and best trafficked in South Florida. Ray's Tuna a tower is favorite of my family. It is sinfully sprinkled through out the tuna with small amount of tempura crumbs and delicate seasoning and is topped with a delightful mustard and chili oil that is also used as a base that the tuna tower is plated on top. (Ray, just one thing? How about a few mango Mango rolls? Especially when you can get it ripe.) I enjoy the Tuna Hibachi cooked very rare (blue) a pay for double vegetables. You can mix and match on the hibachi, get extra and they will make your steak rare to well before your eyes. Ray is a class act, he worked his rear end off turning his much smaller restaurant into both a much larger restaurant and one of the most successful Sushi restaurants in t.he history of South Florida. He's quality conscious and isn't afraid to get behind the Sushi Bar when there's a crush. His wife and parents are charming when in the restaurant. Its a good welcoming spot for visitors. A lot of very nice people here in town and a lot of them go to Ray's. I travel a great deal. That's why I have written this review. Hopefully the next time I need to find a great place to eat in another city or in the middle of now where, I'll find a recommendation or two like mine from a local, steering me to someplace as good as Sushi Ray's. P.S. There are some nice bars in the shopping center if your so inclined. Over the last twenty years the shopping center has attracted young adults after 5 as a face to face social networking for both those looking for love and to expand there business network. .

All in all I had a good experience here. We came for a friends birthday and everyone seemed to be pleased with their food, including me. The sashimi and rolls were good but not great. The service was good. If your hungry and will settle for 7/10 go here. If you want blow your mind sashimi and rolls go back to your yelp app and keep searching.

For now I have to give Sushi Ray 31/2 stars but I would like to give it another shot. I really had mixed feelings about this place. Had I been grading it on sushi alone, it would have gotten a much higher rating. I love that Sushi Ray has a huge variety of creative rolls, so e which I have never seen or tried before. I had the Osaka Roll: spicy dolphin and scallion on the inside with smoked salmon and fish eggs on the outside. This was unusual and absolutely delicious! The smoked salmon was just salty enough so no soy sauce was needed. My other roll was the Ninja Roll: eel and avocado on the inside with yellowtail, fish eggs, and eel sauce on the outside. This roll was also very good although it could have used a bit more fish! For $12 each, both of these rolls were on the small side. 10 year old loved the rolls he ordered and they were both huge. The Dynamite Roll ($14) had imitation crab, cream cheese, avocado, & dynamite on top. He also ordered the Birthday Roll ($10) with eel, tempura shrimp, avocado, and cream cheese. Both of these rolls were very rich but I did try them and they tasted good! We ordered a few appetizers to share and this is where Sushi Ray really fell short. The Kani Su had no fish eggs and just did not taste right. The Gyoza ($8) and Shrimp Shumai ($8) tasted packaged or frozen. I really expected more from a restaurant of this caliber. What we found really annoying though, was my husband's dish. He ordered Steak & Lobster which cost over $40. The food was cold and the portion was very small. Service was polite and fast, although our server got very flustered when we complained about the steak & lobster dish. I think I would give Sushi Ray another chance but for sushi only.

Just finished a business lunch at Sushi Ray's. I was greeted quickly at the door and I say at their long sushi bar. It's a very nice restaurant and I'm sure that they get packed at night. I ordered the teriyaki salmon lunch portion with miso soup and ginger salad. The miso soup was okay, not great but had lots of tofu in it. The ginger salad was very nice and refreshing with lots of tomatoes carrots and cucumbers. The ginger dressing was also really nice. The salmon was much bigger than I expected. It was cooked perfectly with a wonderful teriyaki sauce on it. It was also served with carrots that seems freshly cut in a little bit of broccoli. I was very happy with the entrée. On my way out the host told me to have a wonderful day. I left with a smile.

This is the ABSOLUTE worst dining experience I have EVER had. The "chef" decided to harass us for beers the whole night and be racist on Americans. I'm sorry is this REAL LIFE? He thought someone didn't speak Spanish or something and couldn't translate to us. If he's not fired the restaurant should be shut down. Burnt rice, disgusting shrimp, 3 pieces of chicken for meal and it seemed to be a problem to serve me. He harassed me after I complained about the horrible service and told me to ask for Jamie next time I Come in.... Is this mother F$#%@ER SERIOUS????????? (PROBABLY A FAKE NAME OR HE'S JUST AS DUMB AS HE ACTED) never got food and when we did I wanted to throw up after tasting it. If I could take back the 2 hours I spent there I would. I should have been compensated for WASTING my time!!!!!!!

Some of the best cucumber rolls if you are looking to forgo rice. Signature rolls are amazing - Ray's dream is unique explosion of flavors! Service is always prompt and on point during the lunch time when I usually go with the friends. Fresh and delicious sushi!

Love Sushi Ray. Great selection of rolls and the fish is super fresh. They also have hibachi tables if you're in the mood to engorge. Definitely make a reservation on a weekend. There's great seating inside and out. It's not cheap as far as sushi goes but it's definitely worth it if you're in the mood for a nice lunch or dinner.

Fantastic food and atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. My favorite roll is the volcano roll. I like how they give you noodles when you sit down. I feel like it's their version of the bread other restaurants give before the meal.

Great place with good sushi in an excellent location. It is usually busy and parking could be a challenge since there are a couple other restaurants in the same strip mall. Rolls are quite creative, but most of all very generous! so try a couple first (Lobster roll is a must-try) and calibrate your apetite.

Overpriced food. Bland. More cheap veggies than meat in all the dishes we ordered. I have had dinners here which were ok but the food we ordered tonight, I could have gotten at a hole in the wall quick Asian take out place for a quarter of the price.

Went here last night for a birthday. I made reservations a week ago for 20 people. We only ended up having 13 people in the party. The staff was not organized at all. We waited 20 minutes to be seated. In an area that was open all along. The food is great. But, presentation and service was not that great. Even drink orders were messed up.

I have been here so many times that I lost count and I guess I just forgot to write a review. Ray is almost always there to greet you and his mother (now passed away) used to watch the front door (or was that the cash register) so this place has a family feel to it. The sushi is very good and the service is always excellent.. My favorite is the Ray's Dream roll, but I order mine without asparagus.

I personally think the employees are kind of rude and rush you right out of there. It's annoying when they bring your food out separately. Everytime I have come to eat here, they bring my food out first, and then like 10 minutes later bring the other persons food - so its just annoying because you don't want to be rude and eat without that person. Also I think the sushi is way overpriced for the quality of what you get. However I really do enjoy their seafood salad. It's really good! But I definitely think there are better sushi and japanese restaurants out in Boca!

  • Alejandra D.

Expensive but by far the best Sushi in Boca. They have a really unique menu and the food was even good the second day. Volcano Roll was delicious. They have a lot of rolls without rice...and theyre so good and healthy. I loved it. Even the Sashimi was so fresh.

To our dissapointment we have to write this bad review of what has always been a very good restaurant and experience. First of all we were a party of four, and it was Saturday night and we were all hungry. 3 of us ordered sushi and one ordered cooked food which turned out to be excellent. The order of sushi dinner was good as well. What was not good was the specialty rolls which we always enjoy. We will keep this explanation simple, the rice to fish ratio was lik 90% rice. Now when we order $60 worth of rolls, and it's like $40 worth of rice, then we are not too happy. One roll was undistinguished that we were not sure we ordered it. The rainbow roll with all fish in it was so good that we can't understand what went wrong! And for you eel sauce lovers, it was like molasses. So all in all we were not happy, and we have eaten there over 30 times through the years. Ray took two rolls of the bill and we were not sure if he was upset at us or the sushi chefs as he whisked away the remainder of our food. It would have been better if he came over and said there were new chefs and they are still learning the menu or just said he was sorry we did not enjoy. Just taking the $ off the check is cold. I am sure we will all try again but not anytime soon.

A fan of another sushi spot. Came here for lunch with friends and the place is very cute! Our waiter was very nice and friendly. With only an hour lunch they took our orders quick and by the time we realized it we had our sushi in front of us. I ordered the usual Shrimp tempura with cucumber, cream cheese, asparagus, and avocado. it was satisfying. Prices are reasonable.

BEWARE THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD! Check your credit card receipt. The last two times I dined here they charged my credit card incorrectly. The first time was less then $2. Okay ,maybe an honest mistake, possibly. The second time was over $40!!! They just added it to their tip thinking maybe I wouldn't notice?!. When I called about this I was never treated more rudely in my life. i was told by the owenr Ray "we get phone calls like this all the time so I can't refund anything until you get your credit card statement" In other words I have to wait till my credit card company sends me a bill! Even though it has offically posted on my credit card and is no longer pending so i'm 100% certain this is what i'm being charged and specifically how much extra was placed on the tip, You might think if you get calls like this all the time perhaps your staff is up to no good and trying to tack extra money on their tips with all of your customers?! I Maybe that is how you should be handling these calls and be concenred for the reputation of your business? I can not believe the disrgard I was shown. The place is always packed and they probably wont' go out of busienss anytime soon, but with treating people this way i'm shocked it has not caught up with them yet. It will eventually. Stay away from this place if you value your hard earned money.

We left before we were seated. The two men manning the seating process were rude, lied to us and were discourteous on top of that. I had made a reservation for my husband's birthday at the hibachi table for 7p. He had never had hibachi so I thought this would be fun. The night before our dinner I called to confirm. The same man who booked the reservation said they do not accept reservations for 4 people. I reminded him that he booked it. He checked his book and confirmed. The night of our dinner, my friend arrived at 6:45p - the first to arrive of our party. When she checked in at the host stand (with the same man who booked my reservation), he said they do not accept reservations for 4 people. He did not check the book to see that he had done so for us. My other friend arrived at 6:51p. He checked in (not seeing our other friend). The man who booked my reservation told him, "You're late. We gave your table away." Apparently Sushi Ray believed our reservation to be at 6:45pm. Even if that were the correct time, 6 minutes late and they gave our table away? Wow. My husband and I arrived just before 7p. I was told that our table was almost ready and that people were finishing up. (They did not mention what had happened with either of my friends.) At 7:23p, and after a couple more times of being told almost ready and they are finishing up, we had not yet been seated. We were told we could order appetizers and drinks (at the table near the host stand). At this point, in our opinion, a good manager who cared about guests would have offered appetizers and drinks complimentary. After that, I went and took a look at the hibachi tables myself. Sushi Ray has two U shaped tables, each with two hibachi cooking stations. The guests at one hibachi table were just starting. The guests at the other table were a birthday group. At 7:30p, a birthday cake was served to that group. We said to Sushi Ray that they were certainly not finishing up. They said those guests had arrived late and so the restaurant was running behind. Wow. They concluded we were late and gave our table away! They ruined the beginning of my husband's birthday celebration. We took our business a few shops down to Brio Tuscan Grille. We were treated like royalty. Even the manager, Tyrell, saw that we enjoyed ourselves. Thankfully Brio saved the evening and we had an amazing time there.

Sushi Ray keeps being the best. Both in food and service. After trying the Tuna Tartar here, I've gone and ordered it at other restaurants. I have not like them, not even one. This is the only Tuna Tartar I LOVE! They also make good Rock Shrimp. And of course still love the Chilean Sea Bass. One of my favorite rolls is the Volcano, the Dynamite is good too. My friends went here for the first time today, and both loved it. There's not been a time I've been here that we leave without everyone being happy with whatever they ordered. We always get a table quickly, drinks offered right away, sushi can be customized (take out or add ingredients) and they're very good at making recommendations if needed - that's how we tried the Chilean Sea Bass. Prices are reasonable, inside and outside seating, and it's open for both lunch and dinner. Plenty of parking so no excuse to not go try Sushi Ray.

This is my main lunch haunt and it never let's me down. The ginger salad is the best I have ever had. I order the soy paper rolls - my favorite is the spicy tuna S. the owner and staff are super friendly and everyone I have taken here just loves it and wants to go again. You won't be disappointed. This is pretty much the only Japanese place I will eat in the Boca Delray area.

Victoria R is right...Sushi Ray certainly used to be "The Place" back in the day. And in my days these were my high school days when sushi was just becoming popular among my friends (although for the record...I've been eating it since I was 2 years old) and the super trendy sushi places weren't around yet (at least they weren't around in South Florida). Sushi Ray has gone through some changes in the most recent years: it's had a bit of a face lift to compete with the trendier sushi restaurants in the area and they now serve hamachi as well. But they still have the same great sushi (very creative rolls) and I love the complimentary noodles they bring to your table before the meal...so much so that I pigged out on my noodles and my mom's! You can't go wrong with any of the rolls here (although I really love their dancing eel), but I should warn you that they are pretty large. 2 rolls is more than enough for 1 person...especially when you eat 2 bowls of noodles like myself.

This is an average sushi restaurant in a strip mall in South Florida. Parking can be difficult, specially on weekdays. The place is clean and the staff is attentive enough; but they don't make a great effort in that arena. I have never been to Sushi Ray for dinner, so I can only speak of the lunch menu items. Bottom line: they are good and a good value for lunch. I order items from the grill more often than not. The salmon is my favorite. I also like the chunky steamed vegetables that round off the grilled dishes. So much so, that I started cooking vegetables at my house in the exact same way. Don't go out of your way for this place; but if you're in the neighborhood, it's worth a visit.

I'm really having a tough timing finding something wrong with this place. I think my only complaint in all honesty is the portion size. It's too big! At most sushi places, you can get 4-5 rolls between 2 people, and you're good to go, but not stuffed. Their rolls are 12+ pieces; twice the sushi you'd normally expect. If you haven't had a cucumber roll, try one(wrapped in cucumber, that is.) The sushi was extremely fresh and flavorful as well. I tried Sushi Yama last time I was in town... I really think Sushi Ray is better. Maybe I had a bad night at Yama... Service was excellent as well, and it's a cool trendy atmosphere; good place to grab a martini if $9-$11 is within your budget.

Unimpresssed. Waitress Li had an attitude. Food not described accurately. Rushed service. Not on my list of restaurants to return to. Oh yea, it was trendy inside but you can't eat the decor. Also, expensive even for Boca.

More like 4.5 stars, but i'll give them 5 to be nice and because the service is good. The food is quite delicious. I recommend the tuna tower which is a lot of tuna with very good chips. A little spicy and delicious. The house salad is big and fresh, with the standard ginger dressing that is satisfying. My two favorite rolls are the Ray's dream roll, which is basically shrimp tempura roll with tuna on top and then tempura flakes on top of that mmm. My mouth waters thinking about it. It is one of the best rolls on the menu. Also, the salmon tempura roll is excellent. The portions are big and the fish is fresh. The sashimi entree has a wide variety of clean cut, fresh fish with will be sure to fill you up. Pure protein. I recommend getting some fried rice too which is also delicious. The hibachi side is fun and exciting, and you can order hibachi even if you are not sitting at the large hibachi tables. The service and management is well run. The owner is almost always there which is good if a serious problem arises(if it did ha). I like how they have an iMac in the front which always has this sweet DJ app running :D Hoffman's chocolate is a few stores down, so I always go there after some great Japanese food at Sushi Ray. Prices are a little expensive, but worth it. The ambience of the restaurant is very inviting and calming. Dim lights, not too noisy(even on busy nights), and it has a really well designed bar. Overall, Sushi Ray is an excellent restaurant which is why I continue to go back.

Finally a place that can handle a huge rowdy obnoxious crowd YAYY! They were able to manage our big group of 15 at a hibachi table with no problems & no one complained about us :) They were eager to help us with pounding the table with our saki bombs. The waitress even suggested we order less beers to save us money...thats unheard of! We ordered every sushi in the menu & it was all very fresh & good...one in particular stands out...I think it had wakame salad & fried shrimp...one of the best rolls ever had. We also had hibachi which was good but not as good the sushi! Saki Bomb heaven!

As a self proclaimed sushi connoisseur I say this place is subpar. The fish is clearly frozen and defrosted which takes away from the flavour, the rice has no vinegar taste to it at all, and the rolls themselves are 75% rice 25% fish, unacceptable. Should be at most 50% rice and 50% fish, that way the fish isn't overpowered by the rice though with a lack of vinegar that doesn't matter. Their Salmon Skill roll, don't get me started on the mess that it is, the skin is burnt to a crisp, and has no flavour whatsoever. Soy sauce is needed just to make it bearable to eat, which you shouldn't even need with a good salmon skin roll. I will never go there again as long as they keep their food the way they do right now.

BEST. VOLCANO ROLL. EVER. Most New Yorkers are not familiar with this tropical treat - pretty much a california roll with this warm, baked conch and masago concoction on top. It's pure heaven! Pretty please someone read this and bring volcano rolls to NYC!! PLEASE??!!

Sushi Ray's is my all-time favorite restaurant! I've been eating here for over 20 years. The food and service has always been consistent. Ray, the owner, is a great guy who will come into the dining room from time to time to greet and get to know his guests. The fish Ray's serves is the highest quality I've ever had! And I've had sushi in many different states and countries. The sushi always has huge, thick servings of fish. So fresh and delicious it melts in your mouth! Two of my favorite Ray's rolls are the KC Roll and the Volcano Roll. The KC Roll is fresh and light (I get it without cream cheese). The Volcano Roll is like no other - it's served with baked fresh conch on top; absolutely scrumptious and I have yet to find this anywhere else! Their Ikura is perfection - well-stuffed and melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Ray's miso soup and ginger salad are on point! And one of my favorite things about Ray's is the complimentary noodle app served at seating; I could eat several bowls of it! Ray's also has hibachi tables, but I'm partial to their sushi and get it every time. It gets quite busy, unless you go for a weekday lunch on the later side (around 1pm). I've moved out of the area, but whenever I'm in town, Sushi Ray's is always on my "to do" list! I'm craving it as I'm typing this... ::mouth watering::

One word: dumplings! Sushi is average...and overpriced. Other items are below average, (but what do you want from a sushi spot) Good lunch spot if you're in the area

Sometimes good sometimes very average to below. The young girl who is at the front is very unfriendly as well as the owner seems to be. Also the bartender once tried to rip me off and take a $5 tip instead of giving me my change. They have a terrible attitude. Some waiters are friendly though. The sushi is inconsistent. Sometimes way too much rice and little fish.

Rarely have I've dined in a sushi bar where the rice and the fish were combined in an outstanding fashion.....Last night it happened...An outstanding preparation of tempura, rare in sushi bars will make me return here

I thought the menu at this place was on par with other sushi restaurants. They have very interesting rolls and your standard maki's. A nice bar with a flat panel and habachi are always a good sight as well. Where Sushi Ray fell short was unfortunately, their sushi. The spicy tuna was not good (or spicy) and the dynamite roll had far too much mayo.

I love this place, I visit Florida every year and always make plans to come here. The food service is really fast.

I eat sushi at least once a week at various restaurants throughout Broward and Palm Beach. Somethings changed at Sushi Ray's - the Sushi was not fresh. Out of respect for my guests, who were eating cooked food, I wolfed down the sushi thinking maybe it was just me. Boy was I wrong. Over the next three days I paid for it miserably. Never eat sushi if it doesn't taste good or fresh. Even the sushi rice tasted bad. I hadn't been to Sushi Ray for some time, it 'used' to be good, still has a nice ambiance but I would never eat here again. Admittedly I went during midweek and maybe the second and not first team was working. I hope that's the case but sushi should never taste like this.

This place used to be "THE PLACE" back in the day. I would go there regularly with my parents. It was impossible to get a seat. The place was packed. Their sushi was amazing. I would have to say that it still is good but not what it was They have actually expanded and added a Hibachi addition to the restaurant. I would assume the business is still doing well. I eat there every so often and reminisce of how amazing it was as a child. I would deff. recommend the salmon teriyaki and all the sushi rolls. The Tuna Tower and Volcano Roll are excellent choices. Large portions (compared to most sushi places). All different types of seating available ( indoor- tables, habachi, floor, and outdoor). Casual, relaxed atmosphere.

We have been going to Sushi Ray for longer than I can remember. Their decor was updated about three years ago and is beautiful. There are several large table outside in the cozy courtyard. And best thing is their food. You can not go wrong. I have take so many friends here and the quality of service, atmosphere and food always has them coming back. It is not overpriced as most of the lower ratings customers said. You get an appitizer free when you are first greeted. Warm hand towels to wash your hands; larger portions than almost all the restaurants I have been to.

A trendy sushi place that is a bit overpriced for the quality. I do enjoy going though when I am in Boca. The chefs are nice and willing to chat when you are seated at the sushi bar. All and all worth a stop, plus the bar area can be fun.

i have only eaten at sushi ray once. this was awhile ago so i am hoping they have changed a bit. they were very over priced for what they were. I have been to better sushi places in hawaii, los angeles, texas and orlando that have lower prices and better sushi. one thing that annoyed me about sushi ray (again this was awhile ago so i don't know if they still do this). but most sushi bars when you order sushi, for example tuna sushi you get a minimum of 2 pieces per every $3.50 - $4.00 order. this place when i last ate there you could only only get 1 piece per every 6 to 7 dollar order. and the sushi was mediocre at best. now from what i have heard they give you 2 pieces per order now. but they are still over priced. I hope they have gotten better since i was last there but the experience i had will make me never eat there again no matter how good they may become I am 28 years old and I have been eating sushi since i was 5 at some of the best places in the country, so i know what good sushi is and you can get better quality sushi at other places for less money than you can get at sushi ray. if you don't mind paying way too much for for decent food then go to sushi ray. if you want great food for a good price there are plenty of better sushi bars out there.

some weird stuff folks - i think they should leave sushi out of boca and let it be where it belongs - in boston, NY and LA - i mean i hate it when you get a ton of food because you are strarving and the food gets worse and worse as you eat - then you get that stuffed unsatisfied feeling - yuck
